Mysore: One person died and others were injured after a tree fell over them in the city near the Mysore Palace on Tuesday September 16.
The tree which is more than 100 years old is situated near the famous Kotemaramma temple and a large number of devotees gather around the tree.
The deceased woman identified as 60-year-old, Susheelamma, was on her visit to the temple among others when the tree fell over her and other temple visitors.
All the injured were admitted to the hospital; however Susheelamma succumbed to her injuries. It is also learnt that there were children among the injured.
The police along with the fire department rushed to the rescue of the injured.
As soon as the news spread district representatives such as Mysore MP Pratap Simha, Mysore District in-Charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad, MLA Vasu, DC C Shikha and others visited the spot.
There are also reports that people are still stuck under the tree and the rescue operations are on. More details are awaited.
