Mysuru: In a shocking incident, a clash between two prisoners in the Mysuru Central Prison here on Thursday morning led to the murder of one Mustafa (30), an accused in the Prashant Poojary murder case in Moodabidri.

The two prisoners, Mustafa and Kiran Shetty both from Mangaluru, undergoing imprisonment at Mysuru Central Jail clashed over financial issues. The severely injured Mustafa was taken to KR Hospital for treatment, but succumbed to injuries few minutes after his admission to the hospital. It is said that Kiran took his steel plate and beat Mustafa black and blue. Jail Superintendent Divyashree along with her personnel rushed Mustafa to K R Hospital for treatment, but it was too late.

According to sources, both Mustafa and Shetty, who hail from Mangaluru, had frequent clashes at the jail. Few days back, the duo had a clash over a petty issue of changing the TV Channel. The frequent clash in Mysuru Central Prison exposes lack of security in jail. There are rumors that the jail personnel are hand-in-glove with the prisoners. Mandi police have registered a case.
