Mysuru: The strength of a nation’s economy relies on its industry’s innovative ability and entrepreneurship of the young generation said Padmabhushan Babasaheb Neelkanth Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Force Limited, Pune.

Delivering the convocation address during the seventh graduation day celebration of Sri Jayachamrajendra College of Engineering at its premise here on Saturday, he said, “From now on you will be entering a new world of competition. You must know for sure that the competition will not end until you feel confident of facing the uncertainties and challenges with a positive attitude. For India to be recognised as a developed country, we need to have several thousands of Indian companies led by Indian Technocrat entrepreneurs across the sectors-both in manufacturing as well as in services. Achieving global scale and leadership is levered around product and process innovation. Innovation and entrepreneurship is not merely a slogan to us, but the only high road to strengthen the country and enrich the people. Today we may still not be a fully developed economy but clearly we are well on our way to becoming one. We certainly are the fastest growing emerging economy in the world and our rate of growth has outpaced that of china”.

“India is a young country with a young population over 60 percent of which is less than 35 years old. Our challenge is to leverage this demographical advantage and create a platform that would enable India to become the skill capital of the world and it is here that institutes of higher education like SJCE have a critical role to play. Indians in all walks of life are daring to dream big. More importantly, they are also passionately chasing their dreams. Look at the growing number of Indian success stories in academics, science and technology, business and industry, sports – you name it and we have begun to dominate on the world stage. I am convinced that in the next 15 to 20 years India will become a major economic power and the one that will have a deep imprint in determining the future of the world”, added Kalyani.
