Mysuru: After the rear tyre of a speeding car burst, it rammed into a series of electric poles. Later, when the live transmission lines snapped after poles came down to the ground, a bike went up in flames. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this serial accident.

The accident occurred at around 11 am in the morning on Race Course Road in the city. The rear tyre of the car driven by Bharath, a resident of Gayathripuram, who was on his way towards the city from Chamundi Hills suddenly exploded. The driver lost control of the speeding vehicle and hit a series of electric poles. Biker, an employee of MCC travelling on the same route jumped off his bike on seeing electricity transmission wires snapping due to the impact of accident. In no time, the bike came in contact with the live wires and went up in flames.

Fire service personnel from nearby fire station rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Even traffic police from Siddarthnagar traffic police station arrived at the spot. CHESCOM severed electricity supply immediately to prevent more damage to life and property.
