Siddu demands NEET test in Note languages

Mysuru: The state chief minister has decided to write a letter to the central government demanding inclusion of languages in Indian currency notes for all aspirants writing National Eligibility-cum -Entrance Test (NEET) test.

Speaking at the commemorative coin release ceremony in Crawford hall of University of Mysuru, the state Chief Minister accused the central government of neglecting Kannada language which has millennium old history. He demanded inclusion of all languages incorporated in Indian currency notes for aspirants taking NEET test. He accused the central government for not including Kannada language even after according classical language status despite request.

The members of Parliament and the central ministers from Karnataka must appraise the central leadership to include Kannada, he said.

“None should neglect Kannada language which has rich history and the state government will not permit that,” CM reiterated.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah released two coins of Rs 100 and Rs 5 denomination on the occasion of University’s centennial celebrations. He also released a coffee table book, Book on Centennial lectures series and Karnataka Vishwakosha Edition – 1 on the occasion.

He emphasised on the need of education based on social relevance keeping in minds people welfare.

He rued over the fact that our nation is lagging behind the world average of 26% in students opting for higher education. Countries like South Korea with 95%, Finland 91%, America 89%, and England 59% are way ahead when compared to India where only 21% opt for higher education, CM said.

Universities should strive to make science education attractive and draw more students towards higher education for the overall development of the society, the CM stated.
