Mysuru : Noted Kannada litterateur Dodda Range Gowda felt the need to start a massive statewide agitation to ensure everyone signs in Kannada language to overcome English dominance in the state.
One’s signature determines his/her personality and if such a person signs in English, it amounts to slavery, he opined.
Speaking at an event in Mysuru, noted Kannada writer said, children are free to learn all languages but cannot ignore the language of the land at the same time.
Our very existence depends on land and language, he stressed.
Children are kept out of convent schools when they interact in Kannada language. The schools which take permission to teach in Kannada medium gradually ignore the language and enforce English clandestinely, he alleged. Such people must be expelled from the state without showing any mercy, he stated.
Kannadigas have turned a blind eye despite English dominance in the recent years and if Kannada language cannot be spoken home land, where else should one speak? , he questioned.
The parents should encourage children to speak in Kannada at home, the writer said, few writers have proved that complex topics related to anesthesiology and surgery procedures in medicine can be written in Kannada and easily understood.
