Vigilance Team to keep tab on building violators in Mysuru

Mysuru: An exclusive team named ‘vigilance team’ has been formed to keep tab on violators including those who have not taken license and those who have violated building bylaws.

Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner G Jagadeesha said that the three member team will be directly reporting to the Corporation Commissioner.

Mysore Grahakara Parishat, as part of its monthly public meeting took up different issues including online payment of property tax, building bylaw violation, lack of maintenance of conservancy galli, ward committee and preparing food using plastic and printed papers.

Addressing the public during the meeting, after many people spoke about rampant building violation in the city, Jagadeesha said that the team will take stringent action against those buildings constructed violating the norms or constructing the building by violating laws or taking up construction works before taking license.

“The team will be working directly under the corporation commissioner and they will be on road in a day or two,” he said adding that online payment of property tax will be taken up by state government.

Stringent action will be taken against Architects: If there is building violation found, architects and even contractors will be held responsible. “It has come to light that architects are coming out with two plans, one for getting approval from corporation and the other one for construction purpose. If such violations are found, the license of architects will be cancelled” added Jagadeesha.

According to 2015 Master Plan, People’s Park is no more a park! When the members of MGP questioned commissioner why can’t action be taken against the authorities who are coming out with public library at People’s Park which is clear cut violation, to everyone’s surprise in the meeting Jagadeesha said “According to 2015 Master Plan, People”s Park is no more a park, it is a public and semi public place and hence there is provision to construct public library”. But he assured the people that in days to come he will not give any permission including for fisheries and hopcoms or for construction of any buildings at parks which come under jurisdiction of the corporation.

The Commissioner also said that action will be taken against all those food joints and restaurants that use plastic utensils and mould to prepare food, especially Idli.

Sawkar, President of MGP, Bhami V Shenoy, Secretary of MGP were also present.
