Mysuru: A 26-year-old woman and her alleged lover have been arrested in Karnataka’s Mysuru district for the murder of her husband, police said. The case, which has shocked residents of the rural belt, was reportedly driven by an extramarital relationship opposed by the victim.

The deceased has been identified as Javarappa (34), a resident of Kurnegala village in Sargur taluk. The accused are his wife Amrutha and her alleged lover Siddesh (32).

Body found with injuries

The incident came to light early on April 17, when Javarappa’s body was discovered on a roadside on the outskirts of Kurnegala village. Police noted visible injuries on his face, raising suspicion of foul play.

Following the discovery, the victim’s brother filed a complaint at the Sargur police station. Two special investigation teams were immediately formed to probe the case and identify those responsible.

CCTV footage leads to breakthrough

Investigators traced Javarappa’s last known movements and collected CCTV footage from a bar in Hediyala in Nanjangud taluk, where he had reportedly visited on the evening of April 16.

The footage provided a crucial lead, directing suspicion towards Siddesh, a mason from Mavinahalli village in Mysuru taluk. Based on this evidence, police detained him for questioning.

Mallikarjun Baladandi, Superintendent of Police, said Siddesh confessed to the crime during interrogation, helping police unravel the sequence of events.

Affair and alleged conspiracy

According to police, Javarappa and Amrutha had been married for around nine years and had two children. However, their relationship was reportedly strained, with frequent disputes.

During this period, Siddesh developed a relationship with Amrutha after visiting their home for work. The two allegedly maintained contact and later began an affair.

Police said the accused conspired to eliminate Javarappa, whom they considered an obstacle to their relationship.

Planned murder

As per the investigation, Amrutha had left for her parental home in Hadya around 12 days before the incident. When Javarappa later travelled to meet her, she allegedly informed Siddesh of his movements.

Javarappa boarded a bus to Hediyala, where Siddesh met him. The accused reportedly took him to a bar and later offered to drop him home.

However, instead of returning, Siddesh allegedly diverted to a secluded location. There, he is said to have strangled Javarappa using a towel, assaulted him, and later dumped the body near Kurnegala village.

Arrest and further investigation

Both Amrutha and Siddesh have been taken into custody. Police are continuing further investigation to gather additional evidence and complete legal procedures.

Officials indicated that the case appears to be premeditated, based on the sequence of events and coordination between the accused.

Conclusion

The Mysuru murder case highlights the tragic consequences of personal conflicts escalating into violent crime. With the accused now in custody, police are expected to file a detailed charge sheet following completion of the investigation.

The incident has raised concerns about rising cases of domestic disputes turning fatal, underlining the need for early intervention and conflict resolution mechanisms.
