Yaduveer: “I want to continue the four hundred year old tradition of the Mysuru Wodeyar’s”

Mysuru: “I want to continue the four hundred year old tradition of the Mysuru Wodeyar’s with the support and cooperation of the people of Mysuru”, said the 27th king of Mysuru, Yaudveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, while addressing a press conference held at Amba Vilas Palace on Monday.

His coronation will take place on May 28th. The ceremoy is likely to last an hour from 9:35 to 10:30 am. Karakataka Lagna is when the Pattabhisheka will be conducted, after which the new king will visit all the temples within the Amba Vilas Palace.
 
“The decision to hold the coronation was taken on May 20, we have not printed any invitations and have invited most dignitaries over the phone,” said a beaming Maharani Pramoda Devi.

“Entry to the coronation is restricted because there is little space, we can’t allow the public. The decision was taken on May 20 as to make sure the King was crowned before the Dasara”, she added.

The king will be seated on the silver throne in the Kalyana Mantapa and on May 27, rituals such as Kankana Dharana, Umamaheshwara Homa, Lakshminarayana Homa, Vanibrameshwara Homa and Sriramatarakeshwara Homa will be conducted. In the evening there will be a Padapooja to Prakalamutt Seer.

On the evening of May 28, the Durbar will be open for the Public to meet the new King of Mysuru.

Yaduveer, “I appeal for support and cooperation from the people of Mysuru region, so that I may carry on the tradition of the Mysuru Wodeyar’s. I will follow the path of my ancestors, and will contribute to the growth of the state”, the young king said. The young king also spoke of the great amount of experience he had to gain, and said that he will be in Mysuru till the end of the Dasara celebrations.

He wants to continue his education, and was embarrassed ??when reporters asked him about his impending marriage to his fiancée Trishika Kumari? and said he it will be as his mother, Pramoda Devi says. ?
 
In view of the coronation of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on May 28, the Amba Vilas Palace will be closed to the public from May 26.

Entry to the palace is open from 10 am to 1pm on May 26 and the palace will remain closed on May 27 and May 28. On the evening of May 28, the Mysuru palace will be lit from 6pm onwards to celebrate the coronation of the new king.

Yuduveer Wodeyar was adopted by Maharani Pramoda Devi on February 23. He then went back to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst to complete his degree in economics and English. The last coronation,  on October 16 1974, was that of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, who was fondly remembered by the Maharani and Yaduveer during the press meet.
