Mysuru: The III district additional sessions court set free all accused in the infamous bus dacoity case of 2014 that took place at Yelwal on the outskirts of the city, after the state criminal investigation department (CID) investigating the case failed to provide evidence against the accused.

On July 29, police had seized Rs 2.5 crore in cash near Yelwal on a Kerala bound bus, allegedly in possession of three Kerala based traders. Subsequently, police while registering a complaint, recorded the amount seized as Rs 20 lakhs instead of Rs 2.5 crores .Upset by the police version, traders named Sainulabbin, Sainuddin and Saliyakothangal registered a case against the cops involved in the cash seizure, by claiming the amount in their possession as Rs 2.5 crores. The allegations leveled against the cops forced the government to take some serious action.

The Government under pressure handed over the case to CID to unearth the truth. All accused including ASI Jagadish, cops named Satish, Lathif, Ashok , Ravi, Manohar, gunman Prakash and informers Salim and Sharif were then remanded to judicial custody by the court.

However, the CID investigating the case failed to provide evidence against the accused in judicial custody. Citing lack of substantial evidence, court acquitted all the accused in the case.

Meanwhile, the court has asked the law enforcing agencies to register a complaint against the complainants for not providing prior information on the movement of cash amounting to Rs 2.5 Crores.
