Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday directed the police to investigate the plea of a non-resident Indian to protect his family from the sand mafia.
Manju, who is currently residing in Canada, had appealed to the Chief Minister on social media.
“Urgent appeal for justice! Our family is facing sand mafia violence. An elderly mother was assaulted. Manju from Canada tweeted that I am in Canada and the CM should help us.
Responding to this tweet, the Chief Minister’s Office said, “CM Siddaramaiah has acknowledged Manju’s request. It re-tweeted that the Chief Minister has directed the police department to immediately investigate the complaint and take necessary action to get justice.
Manju attached a letter in his tweet, Dear Siddaramaiah Sir, I am writing out of concern for your urgent help regarding the painful incident that has happened to my family in Lakkavalli village near Kubaturu, home of Minister Madhu Bangarappa.
As I am far away I am not able to take care of the family. So your support is needed now. Our family consisting of senior citizens is facing danger from the neighbors and gang of sand mafia. My father is physically challenged, my mother is suffering from health problems. The sand mafia around our house is a constant nuisance and nuisance. Neighboring family took over as president of Kubatur Gram Panchayat in 2018. Since then he has been involved in corruption and illegal activities. Manju had explained in the letter that his mother was recently assaulted and her life threatened
