In a swift operation following a tip-off, the Raichur Rural Police raided a hotel along the Raichur-Hyderabad Road on July 1 and busted a human trafficking and prostitution racket. Authorities arrested four men and rescued six women who had allegedly been coerced into sex work.

According to Superintendent of Police G. Puattamadaiah, the women were trafficked from various regions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with the false promise of large payments. The operation was part of a broader effort to crack down on immoral trafficking in the region.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Shankar (58), resident of Raichur

  • Mallesh (30), from Ganamur

  • Shivakumar (27), of Muchhalagudda Camp in Sirwar

  • Durugesh (22), from Baidoddi in Raichur taluk

  • A case has been registered under multiple provisions of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956, specifically Sections 3, 4, and 5(1a), and under Sections 143(1) and (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, 2023, India’s updated criminal code.

    The raid was led by Inspector Sabayya, with key support from Sub-Inspector Prakash Reddy Dambal and a team comprising head constables and constables including Bhaskar, Mehboob, Shantakumar, Amarnath, Shashikala, Shantamma, Suresh, Gopalreddy, and Raghav Reddy. The operation was executed under the guidance of DySP Shantaveera.

    Efforts are ongoing to provide rehabilitation and support for the rescued women.
