A shocking case of animal brutality has surfaced from Thotadakoppa village in Vijayapura, located within Hosanagara taluk of Shivamogga district. Unknown individuals are accused of inflicting severe injuries on a cow by slashing its udder while it was out for grazing.
The cow’s owner, Naveen, approached the Hosanagara Police Station and lodged a complaint. “As is our daily routine, we had let our cattle out to graze. At around 4:30 PM on Saturday, we received a call from a few villagers informing us that one of our cows was bleeding profusely from its udder,” he stated.
Rushing to the location, Naveen discovered his 9-year-old cow, belonging to the native Malenadu Gidda breed, in distress and bleeding significantly. The nature of the injury strongly suggested it was an intentional act of cruelty.
With assistance from local residents, Naveen brought the wounded animal back to his home. A veterinarian was immediately summoned, who treated the cow and carefully stitched the deep cut.
The incident has deeply disturbed the villagers, who are now demanding swift and stern legal measures against those responsible. Naveen emphasized that such a heinous act cannot go unpunished and has urged authorities to identify and arrest the culprits at the earliest.
The Hosanagara police have officially registered a case and begun an investigation to trace those behind this inhumane act.
