Udupi: In the wake of a disturbing incident in Kunjalu, Brahmavar taluk—where cow dung was found thrown on the road—Muslim leaders from the region have come forward, urging authorities to take immediate and impartial action.

Leaders from the District Muslim Union, along with representatives from the Kunjalu Jamaat, met with Superintendent of Police Hariam Shankar and submitted a formal appeal. They requested a thorough investigation to identify the individuals responsible and demanded strict legal measures be taken against them.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Tajuddin, president of the Taluk Muslim Union, emphasized the importance of maintaining communal peace and mutual respect. He stated that such acts, if left unchecked, could sow discord and lead to unnecessary communal tension.

“We do not know who is behind this act. But in the past, whenever similar incidents occurred, fingers were wrongly pointed at Muslims,” Tajuddin noted. “Investigations later revealed that our community was not involved. This time too, we demand a transparent and unbiased inquiry.”

Community leaders also expressed concern that such incidents could be deliberate attempts to provoke unrest. They stressed the need for authorities to act swiftly and ensure that communal harmony in the area remains undisturbed.

The delegation also submitted a request to Okkoral, the inter-community peace body, to ensure those responsible are brought to justice and to help maintain interfaith unity.
