In a tragic incident, a 50-year-old government officer employed as a superintendent at the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation Ltd in Bengaluru took his own life at his residence in Shivamogga.
Allegations of Corruption and Pressure
The deceased, Chandrashekaran P, reportedly left a six-page note accusing senior officers of pressuring him to open a parallel bank account and divert unaccounted funds into it from the primary account.
Demand for Justice
His wife, Kavita, described him as an honest officer with no prior history of discussing office matters at home. She demanded a thorough investigation into the revelations made in her husband’s death note.
Political Response
Shivamogga BJP MLA SN Channabasappa displayed the note at a press conference, alleging corruption within the government. BJP state unit chief BY Vijayendra called for the removal of the minister responsible and a transparent investigation into the official’s death.
Calls for Action
Amidst allegations and demands for justice, BJP leaders are planning to meet the governor to seek action in the case, while police have registered a case of unnatural death at Shivamogga’s Vinoba Nagar police station.
