A crucial meeting between representatives of Nirani Sugar Factory and farmer leaders in Mudhol on Tuesday evening ended in deadlock, resulting in protests by farmers. The primary issue discussed was the outstanding payment of ₹175 per ton for the 2018 season and ₹62 per ton for the 2021–22 season.

Factory representatives claimed they had already paid ₹4 crore towards the dues and requested an additional 15 days to clear the remaining balance. They also urged the farmers to allow the factory to resume operations. However, farmer leaders remained firm, insisting that the factory should not restart until all outstanding payments were fully settled.

In response, farmers convened a meeting at the GLBC premises, declaring that no sugarcane would be supplied to the factory until full payment was made. They further warned that any farmer who supplied sugarcane would be held responsible for any damage to tractors transporting the crop.

A follow-up meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday at 4 PM, with farmer leaders urging all affected parties to attend.

Key leaders present included Basavant Kamble, Dundappa Yaragatti, Subhash Shiraboor, Maheshgouda Patil, Rudrappa Adavi, Hanamant Nababh, Suresh Chinchali, Shivalinga Belagali, Rachappa Kalloli, and Hanamant Patil.
