Renowned Kannada film director Guruprasad, best known for films like Mata and Eddelu Manjunatha, has reportedly taken his own life at the age of 52. His decomposed body was discovered in his apartment in Madanayakanahalli, where he had been living alone for the past eight months.
The police were alerted after neighbors reported a foul odor emanating from his residence. Upon entering, they found Guruprasad hanging from a ceiling fan, indicating that he may have died several days earlier. Initial investigations suggest that he was experiencing significant financial difficulties, worsened by the recent failure of his latest film, Ranganayaka.
Guruprasad made his directorial debut in 2006 with Mata, quickly rising to prominence in the Kannada film industry. He went on to direct several acclaimed films and was also a familiar face on television, having participated in reality shows like Bigg Boss.
Sources indicate that he was struggling with substantial debt, which may have contributed to his tragic decision. Notably, he had recently remarried and celebrated his birthday just a day before his death.
The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through the Kannada film community, leaving fans and colleagues in deep mourning. The police have registered a case and will conduct a postmortem examination to ascertain the circumstances of his death.
