Udupi: A 36-year-old man, identified as Naveen Poojary, a native of Mangaluru, was found murdered on Tuesday morning near Kuntalpady under the jurisdiction of Karkala Town Police Station.
According to Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, preliminary investigation revealed that Naveen died of stab injuries.
Suspect in custody
Based on CCTV footage, technical evidence, and an eyewitness account, police identified the accused as Parikshit Sanjeev Gowda, a bus driver who had been living in a rented house. He has since been taken into custody.
Police said Parikshit is a divorcee and suspected Naveen’s closeness with a woman known to him. This suspicion reportedly led to arguments and ultimately to the fatal stabbing on Tuesday morning.
Family details and ongoing probe
Though Naveen’s family members live in Mangaluru, sources said he had been maintaining distance from them. Police have registered a case and are carrying out further investigation.
