Udupi: The Congress party, led by Udupi Block Congress Committee President Ramesh Kanchan, organized coordinated ‘Satyadarshana’ protests across Kadekar, Ambalpady, Badanidiyoor, and Thenkanidiyoor Gram Panchayats on Tuesday. The campaign aimed to refute what Congress termed BJP’s false propaganda against the Karnataka state government.

At Kadiyali, District Congress President Ashok Kumar Kodavoor criticized the BJP’s “misleading claims” on issues like the 9/11 land problems, Akrama-Sakrama Sections 53 and 57, old age pension schemes, and the rise in power tariffs. He asserted that the state government remains committed to welfare, while the central BJP government has failed to deliver.

Ramesh Kanchan urged Udupi MLAs to prioritize pending infrastructure projects — such as the Malpe NH, Ambalpady, Parkala, and Santhekatte Roads — and to focus on development over divisive politics.

At Ambalpady, Harish Kini, president of the District Congress Campaign Committee, accused the BJP of exploiting religious sentiment and ignoring citizens’ core issues. He emphasized that the Congress has always stood for people-first policies.

At Badanidiyoor, Krishna Murthy Acharya praised the five guarantee schemes, describing them as life-changing. He defended CM Siddaramaiah’s fiscal acumen, calling out the BJP for hypocrisy, since they had similar schemes in their manifesto.

At Thenkanidiyoor, Prasad Raj Kanchan criticized the Centre’s delay in releasing Karnataka’s GST share, calling it unjust. He reminded the public of landmark reforms brought by Congress, like the Land Reforms Act and Food Security Act.

Several Congress leaders, local office bearers, and party workers attended the protests, showing unity in defending the government’s record.
