A case has been filed at the Kota Police Station after a home nurse allegedly stole valuables worth several lakhs from the residence of a man who had returned from Dubai to care for his ailing mother.
According to the complaint, 62-year-old Cyprian D’Almeida, a native of Pandeshwar village in Brahmavar taluk and an employee of a private firm in Dubai, came back to India recently to attend to his elderly mother suffering from age-related health issues. To help with caregiving, he hired a home nurse named Sheela, arranged through an agency. Sheela hails from Sagara taluk.
During her stay, Sheela introduced three individuals—her supposed husband Mani (also known as Lohith), a man named Santosh, and Mani’s mother—who frequented the house. After spending several days at the residence, Sheela informed Cyprian on May 27 that she needed to leave for her hometown due to her son’s health problems.
The following day, Cyprian discovered that several valuables were missing from his room’s locker. The stolen items included gold ornaments worth over ₹5 lakh, ₹87,000 in cash, a jewellery set worth ₹1.1 lakh, and a utensil set valued at ₹78,000.
Cyprian managed to track the accused and arranged a meeting at Anandapura Police Station. During initial questioning, Sheela and her associates allegedly confessed to the theft and returned a bracelet worth ₹1.3 lakh and ₹40,000 in cash. However, they failed to return the remaining stolen items as promised.
Police are continuing their investigation.
