Udupi: A tragic accident in Mudradi Kelapete, Hebri taluk claimed the life of a 65-year-old man after he was struck by a crane belonging to S.N.C. Contracting Company.
The deceased, identified as Chanila, a local resident, was walking along the roadside when the crane hit him. The impact proved fatal.
Eyewitnesses reported that the crane driver attempted to flee the scene without stopping. However, local residents who witnessed the incident confronted and scolded the driver, prompting him to halt the vehicle a short distance ahead.
A case has been registered at the Hebri police station, and investigations are underway to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
Authorities are also expected to question the contracting company regarding the driver’s actions and vehicle safety compliance.
