Udupi: MLA Yash Pal Suvarna convened a key meeting with civic and police officials to address pressing issues related to traffic congestion, parking challenges, and the relocation of the Udupi Municipal Corporation’s drinking water pipeline amid ongoing national highway development works.
During discussions with Deputy Superintendent of Police D.T. Prabhu, the MLA emphasized the need for strict action against vehicles parked along main roads, which are contributing to frequent traffic jams. He specifically directed officials to focus on high-traffic areas such as the City Bus Stand, Karavali Junction, Thenkapet, and the Ajjarakadu Training School stretch.
Highlighting upcoming road concreting work in the Lower Parkala area, Suvarna instructed that vehicle movement routes be revised accordingly. He also called for the deployment of police personnel in the affected zones to ensure smooth traffic flow during construction.
The meeting also addressed concerns over the Varahi drinking water project pipeline, which runs parallel to NH-169A. The MLA urged officials to coordinate with the National Highways Authority to safely relocate the pipeline without interrupting water supply to residents. He stressed the importance of maintaining uninterrupted water access during all phases of the roadwork.
