Udupi: The inauguration ceremony of the Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine for the term 2025–26 was held with great enthusiasm at the Town Hall, Udupi. During the event, Lion Gerald Pereira officially assumed charge as the new President, along with his team of office bearers.

Lion Hariprasad Rai, the District’s Second Deputy Governor, administered the oath to the incoming team, extending his best wishes for a successful term.

Prashant Jattanna, Director of the Christian Development Corporation, addressed the gathering and emphasized that alongside social service, efforts to promote unity and peaceful coexistence are equally essential.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Sheikh Wahid Dawood, General Secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Minority Committee, commended the Lions Club’s ongoing community welfare initiatives, lauding their commitment to inclusive development.

As part of the event, meritorious students who topped in SSLC and PUC examinations were felicitated with honorariums, and a financial subsidy of ₹1 lakh was distributed.

The event witnessed the presence of Provincial President Lion Girish Rao, Zone President Lion Valerian Noronha, Treasurer Lion Alvin D’Souza, and members Lion Prem Minajes and Lion Anil Minajes.

Outgoing President Ronald Rebello delivered the welcome address, while Secretary Lion Edwin Lewis concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks. The ceremony was smoothly anchored by Lion Michael D’Souza and Lion Steven Kulaso.
