Udupi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an enthusiastic and grand welcome during his roadshow on the Bannanje–Kalsanka route in Udupi on Friday, ahead of his scheduled visit to the Sri Krishna Mutt. The entire stretch was packed with thousands of people who had gathered on both sides of the road, cheering and waving as the Prime Minister’s convoy passed.

Modi acknowledged the crowds with continuous waves, while many showered flowers on his cavalcade. The atmosphere resembled a celebratory procession, with residents, devotees, and party workers turning the stretch into a festive corridor.

BJP workers mobilise massive participation

To ensure the event’s success, BJP workers made extensive arrangements, distributing caps, shawls, masks and T-shirts to the attendees. Many in the crowd held BJP and saffron flags as they welcomed the Prime Minister.

Large volunteer teams were deployed to manage the gathering, guide participants, and coordinate with officials, contributing to the smooth conduct of the roadshow.

Senior leaders welcome PM on arrival

On reaching Adi Udupi, Modi was welcomed by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T K, BJP State President B Y Vijayendra and other dignitaries.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister landed at Mangaluru International Airport, where he was greeted by Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. MLAs Rajesh Naik and Bhagirathi Murulya, Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Darshan H V and Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H were also present.

From Mangaluru, Modi proceeded to Udupi by helicopter to continue his schedule.

Visit to Udupi Krishna Mutt

Modi is slated to visit the historic Udupi Krishna Mutt and participate in a special programme at the temple. Authorities and temple officials have made arrangements for his arrival and participation.

‘Laksha Kanta Gita Parayana’ underway

As part of the ‘Laksha kanta Gita parayana’, hundreds of women began reciting the Bhagavad Gita in Udupi since morning. The large-scale chanting event forms a spiritual backdrop to the Prime Minister’s visit. Modi is expected to recite the 15th chapter (Adhyaya) of the Bhagavad Gita during the programme.
