A potentially tragic accident in the early hours of Sunday ended on a hopeful note after the 112 Emergency Response team acted swiftly to rescue two injured men following a lorry overturn in Mala Ghat.

The mishap occurred at around 3:45 am when a lorry transporting iron pipes from Ballari reportedly lost control while navigating the ghat stretch. The heavy vehicle overturned and lay across the road, creating a hazardous situation in the dark.

The driver, Suhail, and his assistant, Roshan, sustained injuries in the incident. A distress call was immediately made to the 112 emergency helpline.

Rapid response prevents tragedy

Upon receiving the alert, ERV-05 responder Srinivas and driver Giridhar Pai rushed to the accident site without delay. They provided immediate assistance to the injured duo and coordinated with local ambulance services to shift them to Karkala Hospital for further treatment.

Hospital sources confirmed that both injured persons are recovering and are reported to be out of danger. Authorities stated that timely intervention and coordinated emergency support helped prevent the situation from worsening.

Caution urged on ghat roads

Police have appealed to motorists to exercise heightened caution while travelling through ghat sections, particularly during night hours when visibility is reduced and road conditions can be unpredictable.

The incident once again highlights the importance of Karnataka’s 112 emergency helpline system, which continues to provide prompt assistance during critical situations across the region.
