Udupi– A dialogue and felicitation ceremony for the President, Vice President, and Directors of the Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union was held today at City Hall, Udupi, under the banner of the Dairymen’s Union of Udupi district.

Dr. M.N. Rajendra Kumar, speaking at the event’s inauguration, announced that milk production in the region has seen a significant rise, increasing by 70,000 litres this year compared to the previous year. He stated that the current daily production stands at 4 lakh litres, and the target is to scale up to 6 lakh litres. Reaching this milestone, he emphasized, would further strengthen the union and attract greater government support.

Dr. Rajendra Kumar highlighted the rising costs of milk production and mentioned that a request has already been made to the Cooperation Minister for a special financial package for the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. He pledged to meet the minister again along with union leadership to press for additional aid.

The event was presided over by Vitthal Shetty Shedikodlu, former president of the union. Notable attendees included Jagadish Karanth (former president), Raviraj Hegde (current president), Uday Kotian (vice president), and directors Deviprasad Shetty, Sucharita Shetty, Manjayya Shetty, Prakash Chandra Shetty, Sudhakar Shetty, and Haddur Mamatha Shetty, among others. Sulekha Shetty Kailkere, president of the Primary Milk Producers’ Employees’ District Union, was also present.

The ceremony concluded with congratulatory honors for the cooperative leadership and renewed calls for expanding dairy growth in the region.
