Udupi: Nagara Panchami was observed with deep devotion across the Udupi district, as members of Dravidian communities in Tulunadu upheld this age-old tradition with spiritual fervour.
From early morning, devotees visited coastal Nagasthans, Moola Nagasthans, and various temples to offer special prayers to Nagadev. Rituals included offerings of Hingara, turmeric (Arshina), Kedage flowers, and Kendali Seeya. Despite rainfall in some areas, many devotees remained undeterred, praying in long queues and braving the weather.
The Moola Naga Sannidhis saw a large turnout, where elders led the traditional abhishekam (ritual pouring) of milk and water over serpent idols — a gesture symbolising purification and reverence.
Temples across Udupi, Kaup, and Kundapur were filled with devotees, reflecting the enduring faith and cultural significance of the festival.
