Udupi– A dramatic scene unfolded in Manipal when Danish, the key suspect in a POCSO case, turned aggressive and attempted to escape police custody during a crime scene visit on Sunday.
Danish, accused of sexually exploiting an 8-year-old child, allegedly threw a stone at Sub-Inspector Ritesh from the Udupi Women’s Police Station during the inspection. The police responded with a lathi charge to control the situation. The accused sustained minor injuries, while the officer is being treated at the Udupi District Government Hospital.
Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar visited the hospital to check on the injured officer and promised strict action against the accused for obstructing law enforcement.
The disturbing case was filed under Malpe police limits on July 11, following an incident that occurred on July 8. Danish, a native of Uttar Pradesh, is said to have committed the crime with assistance from Abhidha, a relative of the victim. Authorities suspect the motive may involve personal revenge.
Additionally, Shami and Moshi were involved in the crime. All four suspects were swiftly arrested. Notably, Danish has a prior history of attacking police officers, raising concerns about his criminal background. Officials are now probing if he has other charges pending in different regions.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have vowed to pursue justice thoroughly.
