Udupi: A serious complaint has been lodged against three individuals—including Udupi POCSO Court’s special public prosecutor Y.T. Raghavendra—at the Udupi Women’s Police Station, following allegations of caste-based abuse and intimidation.

The complaint was filed by a young woman from Havanje village in Brahmavar, who is also the victim in an ongoing rape case. She had been in a relationship with a man named Sanjay for two years. During this time, on two occasions—July 11 and November 17, 2024—he allegedly took her to a hotel under the pretense of a romantic outing and engaged in sexual activity under the promise of marriage. On June 30, 2025, the woman registered a rape complaint at the Women’s Police Station.

In connection with the case, the complainant alleges that special public prosecutor Raghavendra summoned her to his office and tried to intimidate her into withdrawing the case against Sanjay. She stated he threatened her, saying complaints would be filed against her in all police stations across Udupi if she pursued legal action. She also accused him and another man, Manoj, of lodging a false complaint at the Manipal police station and causing her undue distress.

Further, the woman claims that while she worked in Raghavendra’s office in 2017, he routinely humiliated her over her caste, forced her to fetch water, and excluded her during meals.

A case has now been filed against Raghavendra, Manoj, and Sanjay under relevant sections.
