Udupi: A unique jackfruit and fruit exhibition is set to take place for the first time at Little Flower Hall, Kemmanu, Santekate, on July 26 and 27. The two-day event promises a flavorful experience with a wide variety of seasonal fruits and jackfruit-based products.
Addressing the media, organiser Muhammad Mukhtar Hussain shared that rare jackfruit varieties such as Ekadashi, Rudraksha, Kesar, and Chandra—sourced specially from Andhra Pradesh—will be among the highlights of the fair. In addition, hundreds of stalls will showcase jackfruit delicacies, mango treats, and assorted fruit products from across Karnataka.
Alongside jackfruit, visitors can expect to find unique produce such as butterfruit and violet fruits, drawing both fruit enthusiasts and curious foodies.
The fair will be formally inaugurated at 11 am on July 26 by the priest of Kemmanu Church. As part of the closing ceremony at 5 pm on July 27, veteran farmers and seasoned entrepreneurs will be honoured for their contributions to agriculture and trade.
To keep young visitors engaged, a series of fun contests have been planned. Among them is a jackfruit-eating competition designed specifically for children below seven years of age. Winners will be awarded attractive prizes.
Organisers Nizamuddin, Muhammad Yasin, Gafoor, and Mashook also encouraged the public to attend and support local fruit growers and entrepreneurs.
This first-of-its-kind event aims to celebrate the jackfruit’s cultural and nutritional significance while promoting farm-to-table connections.
