Udupi– A tragic road mishap near MIT College in Manipal claimed the life of a 65-year-old woman on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased, identified as Vinoda, was crossing the road after dropping off her grandchildren at their residence when the incident occurred.
According to reports, a private bus en route from Udupi to Dharmasthala struck the woman at high speed. The collision was so violent that the victim suffered catastrophic injuries.
Onlookers were left horrified by the gruesome scene. Several eyewitnesses stated that the force of the impact left the victim’s body in a severely mutilated state, underscoring the recklessness of the bus driver.
Local residents expressed outrage over the lack of speed control in the area, especially near educational institutions and residential zones. They urged the authorities to install speed breakers and proper signage to prevent future tragedies.
