Udupi: A daily wage laborer, recently arrived in Udupi, was assaulted by a friend following a heated argument over a mobile phone. The victim, Ravi (30), hailing from Nandibattalu Tandya in Chikkamagaluru, had come to Udupi just a week prior in search of work.
The incident occurred on the night of December 23, near Naina Fancy Store in Moodanidamburu village, opposite Tirumala Jewellers, around 11:30 PM.
According to sources, Ravi was conversing with his acquaintance Hanumanth when the discussion about a mobile phone turned into an argument. The situation escalated as Hanumanth allegedly struck Ravi on the lips and cheek, causing bleeding. The altercation intensified when Hanumanth reportedly kicked Ravi and attacked him on the head with a stone, inflicting further injuries.
The Udupi Town Police have registered a case, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
