UdupiSuperintendent of Police Hariram Shankar confirmed that four special police teams have been formed to probe the shocking incident of a cow head found in Kunjal, Brahmavar, in Udupi district.

Addressing the media, the SP urged the public not to speculate on social media, stating that cyber surveillance is also active. “We are examining CCTV footage and gathering technical evidence. Our teams are working efficiently, and we expect progress within two to three days,” he said.

SP Shankar emphasised that the case is being treated with utmost gravity. “We consider this case as serious as a murder investigation. Though it is hard to set a specific deadline, our efforts are ongoing around the clock.”

The incident, which occurred around 11:30 PM last night, involved the discovery of the cow’s head and other body parts. Following the recovery, an FIR was filed, and a Mahajar (on-site inspection) was conducted. The local Panchayat has been instructed to handle proper disposal of the remains.

The SP also highlighted the possibility of an attempt to disrupt communal harmony or an underlying cow smuggling operation. “All angles are being probed thoroughly,” he added.

The case has caused concern in the region, and authorities have assured citizens that swift and strict action will follow upon identifying the culprits.
