Udupi: The Udupi district administration has achieved a major milestone in record modernisation by digitising 86,476 land record files comprising over 1 crore pages (1,00,38,919) under the Land Security Scheme, as part of a state-wide initiative to streamline revenue department services.
According to an official release, the project aims to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of critical documents, which are vital from birth to death, especially for verifying land ownership and legal transactions.
The digitisation process includes indexing, cataloguing, scanning, and uploading of aged and significant documents using revenue computerisation software developed by the Bhoomi Monitoring Cell.
The Hebri taluk office was chosen as the pilot center for this initiative, successfully digitising 40,832 files and 26,82,228 pages. Other taluks followed:

The administration confirmed that the public can soon access these certified records online or by visiting designated archive centers, paying a nominal fee to obtain digitised copies within a stipulated timeframe.
