In a press conference held on February 27, the Udupi district Karnataka Pradesh Krishika Samaj called for the allocation of funds for coastal agriculture and the establishment of an agricultural college at the Brahmavar Agriculture Center in this year’s state budget.

Ashok Kumar Kodgi, president of the Udupi district Karnataka Pradesh Krishika Samaj, emphasized that their key demand is the transformation of the Brahmavar Agricultural Science Center into a full-fledged agricultural college. He also called on the government to allocate sufficient funds for agriculture and issue “Kumki” and “cashewnut lease” permits to farmers. Furthermore, Kodgi urged that the loan limit for farmers be increased from Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 5 lakhs, with a zero-percent interest rate.

The press conference also highlighted concerns about protecting crops from wildlife damage and the need for constructing solar systems with 90 percent financial assistance. Additionally, they requested the chief minister’s approval for the proposal and demanded the creation of a center for teaching scientific methods of local agriculture to farmers’ children.

The event was attended by state committee member Pradeep Hebbar and Brahmavar Taluk Krishika Samaj president Vaikunta Herle.
