Udupi– A transformative teacher training workshop was recently held in Udupi under the Shell NXplorers programme, aiming to integrate sustainability, innovation, and systems thinking into Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) school education for the 2025–26 academic year.
Conducted in collaboration with the Learning Links Foundation and supported by NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission, the initiative focuses on empowering educators to mentor students in addressing real-world problems through STEM-based solutions.
This year’s session saw active participation from 18 ATL educators across 16 schools, many of whom have been part of the NXplorers ecosystem for the past two years. The training was centered around the NXplorers Foundation Curriculum, which equips teachers with tools, methodologies, and resources to enable student-led innovation and sustainability projects within schools.
The programme was graced by Ashoka Kamath, principal in-charge, DIET Udupi, and Suresh Bhat, DIET lecturer, both of whom lauded the programme’s contribution to aligning education with national goals and fostering critical thinking.
Since its launch in Udupi in 2023, Shell NXplorers has successfully mentored numerous impactful student projects—several of which have earned accolades at district and state levels. The initiative’s strength lies in its holistic approach, combining teacher capacity building with student-centric learning.
With continued backing from NITI Aayog, proactive school administrations, and local education officials, the programme is nurturing future-ready learners who can think systemically, act sustainably, and solve complex challenges.
