A security alert was raised near the Kadamba Naval Base in Karwar, Karnataka, after a drone was spotted flying over the boundary of the defense project area. The unidentified drone was seen at night, causing concern due to the proximity to this critical military installation.

Locals reportedly captured footage of the drone on their mobile phones, which was later reviewed by naval officers. The drone is suspected to have been operated from a vehicle with a sunroof.

INS Kadamba, also known as Project Seabird, is India’s third-largest operational naval base and houses key assets like the INS Vikramaditya, India’s aircraft carrier. Drones are strictly prohibited near military installations, categorized as ‘Red Zones’ under the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s Drone Rules 2021.

Following the sighting, intelligence agencies intensified their search efforts, given the potential security threat posed by the unidentified drone.
