A tragic incident linked to the circulation of an unverified social media video has surfaced in Karnataka, renewing concerns over online allegations and their impact on mental health. A well-known doctor from Karwar district allegedly died by suicide after experiencing severe mental distress following accusations made against him online.

Dr Raju Pikle, associated with Pikle Nursing Home in Karwar, was a respected medical practitioner who had served the local community for several years. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the district and deeply saddened the medical fraternity.

Incident at Ankola taluk residence

The incident occurred in Aversa village of Ankola taluk, where Dr Pikle was found dead at his residence. According to police, he allegedly shot himself using a double-barrelled gun. Family members immediately informed the authorities, who reached the spot and initiated legal procedures.

The body was sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain further details.

Police said that around 15 days earlier, a relative of a patient had allegedly recorded and circulated a video accusing Dr Pikle of administering expired medicines.
