Two personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) sustained injuries in an IED blast triggered by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Tuesday, police confirmed.
The explosion took place during a Road Security Operation (RSO) carried out by the 229th battalion of the CRPF between Timapur and Murdanda villages, falling under the jurisdiction of Awapalli police station. According to officials, the IED, concealed along a dirt track, was detonated as the patrol moved through the Awapalli–Basaguda road.
The injured personnel received immediate first aid at the site and were later transferred to the district hospital for further treatment. Their condition is currently stable.
Authorities noted that Maoists frequently lay such explosive traps in forested regions to disrupt anti-Naxal operations. Unfortunately, civilians have also been victims of these IEDs in the past, especially across the Bastar division, a known hotspot for Naxalite activity.
Security forces continue to sweep the area for additional threats and have intensified surveillance in the region.
