Vijayapura police made a breakthrough in the Canter robbery case that occurred in Kolhar on May 17, with the arrest of five individuals, including the Canter driver. SP Rishikesh Sonawane informed reporters that a dedicated team was formed to solve the case.
Investigations revealed that Canter truck driver Mahantesh Shivagond Talwar, along with four accomplices, orchestrated the robbery. The assailants, identified as Dharesh Revanasidda Dalwai, Sunil Ramappa Vaddar, Shivanand Basappa Dalwai, and Shivappa Sharanappa Mashyal, intercepted the vehicle and looted Rs 32.3 lakh from complainant Mallappa Shivappa Kodachi by using chilli powder to disorient him.
The stolen cotton consignment was subsequently sold, and the police managed to recover Rs 31.1 lakh along with the SUV used in the crime.
