
Policeman Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot in Maoist-Hit Bijapur
In a tragic incident in Bijapur district of Bastar division, Head Constable Sannu Hapka died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound early Friday morning. Hapka was preparing for road-opening party (ROP) duty, having been issued an AK47 shortly before the incident.
The shooting occurred around 9 a.m. as Hapka was seen walking towards the mess behind the Bhairamgarh police station, where he was later found with a bullet wound on his chest. Despite being rushed to the Bhairamgarh community health centre just 650 meters away, he was declared dead upon arrival.
Police suspect suicide but have not yet determined the exact cause. The incident is under investigation, with authorities examining whether the shot was self-inflicted or accidental.
