Mangaluru— After nearly a decade of evasion, Urwa police have apprehended Karad Ganesh Laxman Sakat, a key operative of fugitive underworld don Ravi Poojari, for his involvement in a 2015 shootout at the Bharati Builders’ office in Bejai.

Sakat, who had gone underground since the incident, is accused of executing the attack on Poojari’s orders. A case had been registered at Urwa police station, and a non-bailable warrant was issued against him by the JMFC Third Court in Mangaluru after he failed to appear for hearings.

Under the direction of the Mangaluru Police Commissioner, the Urwa police tracked him down to Pandharpur in Maharashtra. He was arrested and subsequently produced in court.

Authorities revealed that Sakat is also booked under the Arms Act in a separate case in Karad, Satara district (Maharashtra).

His arrest marks a significant breakthrough in reviving long-pending criminal cases linked to Ravi Poojari’s crime network.
