A 68-year-old man, identified as Dharmapala, lost his life in a tragic accident in Kadaba on Thursday after a jeep allegedly overturned and fell on him. The incident took place near the residence of the complainant, Nagesh, a resident of Bilinele in Kadaba.

As per the complaint, Dinesh — son of the complainant’s neighbour — was reversing his jeep carelessly on an uphill stretch. The vehicle lost balance, overturned, and toppled onto Dharmapala, who was standing just behind it.

Witnesses, including the complainant and nearby residents, immediately rushed to Dharmapala’s aid and took him to the Kadaba Government Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The police have registered a case at the Kadaba Police Station under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), citing negligent driving as the cause of the fatal mishap.

The incident has left the local community shaken, with residents expressing concerns over careless vehicle handling on the area’s hilly roads. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise extra caution, particularly in residential zones and sloped stretches, to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
