Puttur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a show cause notice to P.G. Jagannivas Rao, a senior party member and Puttur City Municipal Councilor, over allegations involving his son that have sparked public outcry and caused embarrassment to the party.

The notice, sent on the directive of Dakshina Kannada District BJP President and signed by Puttur Nagar Mandal President Shivakumar, raises serious concerns regarding the conduct of Srikrishna J. Rao, son of Jagannivas Rao.

Srikrishna has been accused of sexually exploiting a childhood friend under the pretext of marriage, leading to her pregnancy. The woman has since given birth, and during a press conference, her family alleged that Rao supported his son rather than ensuring justice.

The BJP has stated that as a public representative, Rao is expected to uphold ethical standards and assist in delivering justice. He has been warned that failure to respond or act appropriately may attract disciplinary action from the party. The notice was dispatched via registered post to his residence.

In parallel developments, a case was registered against Srikrishna at the Dakshina Kannada District Women’s Police Station. After evading authorities for ten days, he was arrested in T. Narasipura, Mysuru, and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.

Adding to the controversy, Jagannivas Rao was also arrested on charges of allegedly helping his son avoid arrest, though he has since been released on bail. The BJP has now formally sought a written explanation from him.
