Mangaluru – Bringing pride to the coastal belt, 18-year-old Minan Moydhu Hussain from Deralakatte on Mangaluru’s outskirts has earned admission to one of India’s premier engineering institutions — the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee.

Minan is the son of Moydhu Kunhi from Adkasthala in Enmakaje village (Manjeshwar Taluk) and Hawwa Moydhu of Mangaluru Taluk.

He completed his schooling and pre-university education across Mumbai and Mangaluru. Though he initially focused on cracking the NEET exam with dreams of becoming a doctor, Minan later shifted his career goal toward engineering.

Following this change in direction, he diligently prepared for both JEE Mains and JEE Advanced, eventually earning a spot at IIT Roorkee under the government quota.

Minan shared insights into his academic journey, saying, “At first, I was determined to study MBBS and took NEET accordingly. But I later realised my true interest was in engineering. I worked hard for JEE and feel proud to be joining IIT Roorkee.”

He is now preparing to embark on his undergraduate journey at the historic IIT campus in Uttarakhand, setting an example for students who might consider shifting focus after exploring different academic paths.

His success story stands as a testament to determination, adaptability, and the courage to pursue one’s passion, even after an initial change in direction.
