Belthangady, Sept 8: Kerala-based YouTuber Manaf on Monday appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the Dharmasthala mass burial case, stating that he was prepared to face any charges.
Manaf’s statement
Speaking to reporters before entering the SIT office, Manaf said:
“I will get a clear picture once I meet the officers. I have come to know that I am booked under 12 sections, and I am prepared to face it.”
Manaf, a former lorry driver who had earlier travelled to Dharmasthala, is reportedly being probed over a video of the complainant that he uploaded online. Another YouTuber, Abhishek from Hassan, was also present during the probe.
Fresh petition filed
In a related development, activist Snehamayi Krishna submitted a petition to the Dakshina Kannada SP, demanding a fresh probe into Sowjanya’s case. The petition specifically raised concerns about the role of Vittal Gowda, a relative of Sowjanya, in her murder case.
It may be noted that the SIT is probing Gowda in connection with the skull produced by the complainant in the mass burial case.
Investigation continues
SIT officials said the investigation is ongoing, with several activists, including Jayanth T, Girish Mattanavar, and Vittal Gowda, under continued interrogation.
