Mangaluru: In a breakthrough related to the robbery of a cash-filled locker worth Rs 3.30 lakh from a nutrition store in Kodialbail, Kadri police have apprehended two suspects involved in the case.

The accused have been identified as 19-year-old Yashwanth Naik, originally from Kadur in Chikkamagaluru but currently residing in Mallikatte, and Niroop, also known as Shravan, aged 19, who lives in Labour Colony, Shaktinagar.

Yashwanth was employed as a day-shift security guard at the store, while Shravan had earlier worked there but had left his job some time ago.

On June 28, after wrapping up business for the day, the shop employees secured a total of Rs 3,33,030 inside a locker and locked the premises. When they returned on the morning of June 30, they discovered that the main shutter lock had been tampered with. Upon checking, the locker containing the money was found to be missing. A formal complaint was soon lodged at the Kadri police station.

Interestingly, just days before the burglary, the key to the shop’s shutter had mysteriously disappeared. Investigators believe the missing key was used to carry out the theft.

Following detailed inquiry and surveillance, police zeroed in on Yashwanth and Shravan. Upon interrogation, both admitted to orchestrating and executing the crime.

Law enforcement officers have successfully retrieved the stolen locker, the entire amount in cash, and the bike used during the theft.
