Mangaluru: In a significant boost to the region’s industrial and clean energy sectors, ETAG Energietechnik Pvt Ltd, the Indian arm of Germany’s ETAG GmbH, has secured swift approval from the Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) to establish a cutting-edge production facility in the city.

This strategic move marks a major step in ETAG’s global expansion, as the company shifts parts of its operations from Germany and the Middle East to India, with a clear focus on catering to its growing customer base across Asia.

ETAG specializes in hybrid energy storage, ultra-fast EV charging infrastructure, and advanced power technologies. The upcoming Mangaluru facility is expected to become a hub for research, design, manufacturing, and deployment of next-gen energy systems that align with global trends toward clean mobility and sustainable energy.

The facility is slated to be operational by early 2026 and is anticipated to play a key role in advancing India’s ambitions of becoming a global clean energy innovation hub.

Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta welcomed the move and acknowledged the role of the BackToOoru initiative in encouraging ETAG to establish its Indian base in Mangaluru. He extended a warm welcome to ETAG Chairman Prakash Pereira and the team, emphasizing the region’s readiness for high-tech industrial development.

An Expression of Interest (EoI) between ETAG and MSEZ had been signed earlier this year, laying the groundwork for this milestone.
