Mangaluru: Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) observed a day of dignity, gratitude, and renewal on 20 November 2025 as leadership transitions were formally held at the Kankanady and Thumbay campuses for the Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences (FMCOAHS) and the Father Muller Allied Health Science College, Thumbay. Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, FMCI, presided over both ceremonies, reinforcing unity and continuity across the Institution’s Allied Health fraternity.
Leadership transition at Thumbay campus
At the Thumbay campus, Dr Pauline Anand, Associate Professor of Physiology, FMMC, assumed office as the new Principal of the Father Muller Allied Health Science College. With 20 years of teaching experience, an MSc from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, and a PhD from St John’s Medical College, she is known for her academic discipline, student-centric approach, and active service as Joint Secretary of the FMCI Scientific Committee.
The baton of leadership was ceremoniously passed from Dr Shivashanker A. R. to Dr Pauline in the presence of the FMCI Director, marking a moment filled with goodwill and institutional pride.
FMCOAHS honours the service of Dr Hilda D’Souza
At the Kankanady campus, the Management and Advisory Committee recognised the exceptional service of Dr Hilda (Fernandes) D’Souza, who served as Principal of FMCOAHS from 16 November 2022 to 19 November 2025. Her tenure was marked by academic rigour, compassionate mentorship, promotion of holistic learning, and strong community building within Allied Health Sciences.
Joining FMCI in 1999, Dr Hilda rose to become Professor and Head of Pathology, leading the revival of classical pathology techniques and the development of a valuable specimen collection. She currently serves as President of the Indian Academy of Cytologists – Karnataka Chapter (2025–27).
As a gesture of respect, Rev. Fr Faustine presented her with a Certificate of Appreciation, bouquet, and ceremonial saree. In her emotional address, she reflected on her journey through various roles and expressed gratitude to colleagues, family members, and especially her husband, Dr Clement D’Souza.
Dr Shivashanker A. R. assumes office as Principal of FMCOAHS
The formal handover of files confirmed the assumption of duty by Dr Shivashanker A. R. as the new Principal of FMCOAHS from 20 November 2025. With 29 years of teaching experience, he serves as Professor of Biochemistry at FMMC & FMCOAHS and Division Head of Biochemistry at the Father Muller Research Centre. Holding MSc and PhD degrees from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, he is known for his steady leadership and academic expertise.
Director emphasises unity, wisdom, and continuity
Addressing both gatherings, Rev. Fr Faustine highlighted the importance of mutual respect between incoming and outgoing leaders. He observed that while positions change, the Institution’s enduring values of excellence, compassion, and service remain constant. He congratulated Dr Pauline and Dr Shivashanker on their new roles, and extended heartfelt appreciation to Dr Hilda for her dedicated service and continuous contributions.
