Congress MLC B K Hariprasad has called for decisive action against the masterminds inciting violence in Dakshina Kannada, urging authorities not to stop at arresting just the perpetrators. Speaking at an event by Ulama Coordination Karnataka at Jamiyyatul Falah Hall, Kankanady, he stressed the need to unearth the invisible forces disturbing communal peace.

Those who commit the killings are being arrested, but those behind the scenes escape untouched. We must be alert to these hidden hands,” he warned, pointing out that Dakshina Kannada, known for its communal harmony, has seen its social fabric strained by recent killings.

Hariprasad proposed a multi-faith dialogue to restore trust and pledged to submit the Ulama Coordination Committee’s demands to the Chief Minister within two days.

The event was attended by religious and community leaders, including Syed Ismail Thangal Madani, K.M. Usmanul Faizi, and Abdul Nasir Lakkistar.

Key Demands from the Committee:

  • Zero tolerance for hate speech: Politicians promoting hate must be barred from bail and removed from office.
  • Stricter laws: Long-term jail terms for hate speech that incites violence.
  • Justice for Abdul Rahman: Swift arrest and punishment of those responsible; ₹50 lakh compensation for the family.
